Mawson West Announces the Appointment of Bruce McFadzean as CEO
PERTH, AUSTRALIA and TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/18/12 -- Mawson West Limited (TSX: MWE) ("Mawson West" or the "Company") today announces the appointment of Bruce McFadzean as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Company, effective as of October 7, 2012.
Mr. McFadzean, a mining engineer, brings to the Company more than 30 years of management, mining and processing experience. Mr. McFadzean, Dip. Mining, FAusIMM, more recently served as Managing Director of Evolution Mining Limited (ASX: EVN) (formerly Catalpa Resources Limited (ASX: CAH)) from 2008 until early 2012. Under his management he grew the company from a Market Cap of A$10M to A$1.2Bn.
Commenting on Mr. McFadzean's appointment, Mawson West Chairman Anthony Lloyd stated, "Mr. McFadzean has the right mix of experience and skills to further progress the Company's strategy of project delivery in the near term whilst driving development, growth and shareholder return in the medium and long term."
Mr. McFadzean's experience includes 15 years with BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto including building and operating the Kelian Gold Mine in Indonesia. He has broad technical, operating and corporate experience in commodities including gold, silver, nickel, diamonds and iron ore and he has managed the construction of a number of successful mines in Australia and Indonesia.
With the appointment of Mr. McFadzean as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Stowell will step down from the role of Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, effective as of October 7, 2012 and will remain a Director of the company. The Board would like to thank Mr. Stowell for acting in the CEO role and guiding the company through to the appointment of Mr. McFadzean.
