Asher Resources Welcomes Mr. Kevin D. Sherkin Ll.b. To The Company's Board of Directors

TORONTO, Oct. 9, 2012 - Asher Resources Corporation ("Asher" or the "Company") (TSX-V: ACN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kevin D. Sherkin, LL.B. to the Company's Board of Directors.

Kevin Sherkin was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987 after graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School with a LL.B. in 1985. In 1990, he then left a large downtown Toronto firm to become a founding partner and the managing Director of Levine, Sherkin, Boussidan Professional Corporation. Mr. Sherkin is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and the Advocates' Society.

While Mr. Sherkin's practice involves a wide range of civil litigation, he has considerable experience and expertise in gold mining and exploration having been on the Board of Directors, Audit Committee and Compensation Committee of Rubicon Minerals Corp., a company listed on the TSX from January 2005 to July 2009. He also sat on the Board of Directors of Golden Goose Minerals Inc., now Prodigy Gold, a company listed on the TSX-V from January 2007 to February 2009. Today, he currently sits on the board of Boost Capital Corp. a CPC that trades on the TSX.V.
