International Alcoa Delegation of Future Leaders to Address Global Issues at One Young World Summit
Joining a network of socially committed individuals with leadership
potential to focus on creating positive change in communities and
businesses
Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that 10 of its early-career
professionals from seven countries will participate in the third annual One
Young World Summit, a global gathering of bright, young business and
philanthropic leaders, who will discuss global issues and develop
solutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In addition, Alcoa
Foundation, through a partnership with the World
Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, invited six environmental and
educational NGO leaders from New York, China, and Pittsburgh to share
ideas and best practices. The event will take place in Pittsburgh from
October 18-22.
Modeled after the annual World
Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the One Young World Summit
will bring together 1,500 delegates under the age of 30 from 190
countries to present, debate, and develop solutions to some of the
world′s most pressing environmental, business, education, health and
political issues.

truly multi-cultural, multi-national experience as well as broaden their
perspectives to approach business challenges,? said Mike Barriere, Alcoa

Alcoa Foundation is also sponsoring 'Night Owl? sessions at different
informal venues throughout the city, such as cafes or coffee houses,
where delegates will meet to discuss issues of global interest.
'The One Young World Summit gives young leaders a great opportunity to
learn from global thought leaders and, together with their peers from
around the world, develop solutions to significant business and societal

Conference delegates will participate in plenary sessions and listen to
speeches on various topics plus attend personalized 'breakout sessions?
around the city. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will open the
four-day forum as the keynote speaker. Also supporting the delegates are
several high-profile counselors including Arianna Huffington, Founder &
CEO Huffington Post; Jack Dorsey, Creator of Twitter and CEO of Square;
and Bob Geldof, musician and activist.
This is the first time the global event has been held in the U.S. The
inaugural summit took place in London in 2010, followed by Zurich in
2011. The 2013 session is planned for Johannesburg, South Africa.
Following the summit, delegates graduate to ambassadors. To date, almost
four million people have been directly impacted by the work of One Young
World ambassadors. There are currently more than 125 projects and
initiatives involving in excess of 100 countries.
Nearly 100 young Alcoa employees submitted an essay application
describing their passions and projects that are helping them create
positive change. Alcoa partnered with One Young World on selecting the
delegates to represent the company.
