Manson Creek Resources Ltd.: New Discovery of 5.64 Grams Per Tonne Gold Extends Fox South Zone on Up Town Gold Property

13.12.2012  |  Marketwire

CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/13/12 -- Manson Creek Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: MCK) ('Manson Creek') is pleased to announce the receipt of the remaining channel sample results from the fall exploration program on the Up Town Gold project in the Northwest Territories. The Company is encouraged with the Fox South sample results that outline an open-ended shear and alteration zone extending for over 470 meters. The widespread gold and silver mineralization occurs in the shadow of the historic Giant gold mine, located just 1.5 kilometers to the east. A map of sample locations is on the Company's web site at www.manson.ca.

The Fox South sampling entailed approximately 55 meters of continuous channel sampling that collected 65 representative samples and five additional chip and grab samples of four newly discovered mineralized occurrences south of the main Fox South zone.

(i) All Channels oriented perpendicular to strike of shear zones.

New discovery grab samples returning up to 5.64 g/t gold and 1.20 g/t silver significantly extend the strike of the Fox South zone. The sampling results substantiate the Company's view that the Fox South zone is host to laterally striking extensive gold and silver mineralization. The proximity to the Yellowknife Greenstone Belt, host to both the historic Giant and Con gold mines, is compelling. Therefore, Manson Creek is currently considering follow up work on the Fox South zone in 2013.

The Company is eagerly awaiting the completion of the paved highway bypass that will cut through favourable geology within 500 meters of the Fox South zone. The road construction, currently underway, will provide an unprecedented opportunity to expose significant areas of new geology that compares favourably to other mineralized areas of the property. Manson Creek believes that the widespread hematite alteration associated with the gold and silver mineralization indicates that a large, widespread mineralized plumbing system is present within the Up Town Gold property.

Minor work was completed on the C zone, located 500 meters to the west of the Fox South zone. The anomalously mineralized C zone had four channels cut, totaling 31 meters, with the collection of 37 samples plus 4 grab samples. The area displays significant widespread alteration extending from the numerous shear zones present with the C6 and C3 shear zones returning 0.7 meters at 4.19 g/t gold and 2.1 g/t silver and 0.5 meters at 0.58 g/t gold with less than 0.1 g/t silver respectively.

Geologic logging of the core from the two small diameter drill holes from the J3 zone is complete and core has been submitted to the lab for analysis. The results are expected in four to six weeks.

The Up Town Gold property is within sight of two historic gold producers, the Giant and Con gold mines that have produced over 12,000,000 ounces of gold. The property encompasses five known gold bearing zones hosted in Archean granodiorites. Manson Creek has completed reconnaissance prospecting and sampling over much of the core of the 3,388-hectare property. Gold mineralization, often with significant silver mineralization, extends over three kilometers of strike in the Rod, Fox South, J7 and C areas (Map of showing locations and Phase Two sampling can be found at www.manson.ca).

Analytical Method

Samples were submitted to Acme Labs in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories for analysis with all of the rock samples analyzed using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) together with mass spectrometry (MS) finish. Gold was analyzed by a fire assay preparation with an ICP-ES finish.
