Atlanta Gold Launches Steering Committee to Advance Development of Atlanta Gold Project

TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Atlanta Gold Inc. (TSXV: ATG; OTCQX: ATLDF) announces that its subsidiary Atlanta Gold Corporation ("AGC") has selected a Steering Committee to advise on and facilitate the transition of the Atlanta Gold Project through exploration and development.  The Company expects that it will benefit significantly from the experience and expertise of each committee member. The Steering Committee's breadth and depth of experience in gold exploration and development, construction, public relations, legal, transportation, distribution and processing represents a significant step forward in the Company's strategic capabilities and a key milestone in the development of the Atlanta Gold Project.

Ernest Simmons, President and CEO of the Company and AGC, stated: "I am pleased that this professional team of experienced business executives has volunteered to assist AGC to move the Atlanta Gold Project forward. The Strategic Committee includes individuals from substantial Idaho-based companies that generate significant revenues and provide direct and indirect employment for more than 7,000 people.  We expect that this diverse group of business leaders will provide strategic direction to maximize economic, environmental and social benefits from the Atlanta Gold Project, develop new technologies and obtain public and private investment. The Steering Committee will be comprised of the following eleven members:

Wm. Ernest Simmons, President, CEO & Director of Atlanta Gold Inc. & AGC - Mr. Simmons has 50 years of mining industry experience with a long history in the Canadian, U.S. and Mongolian mining industry as a miner, supervisor, manager and corporate director.  He is a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines and Regis University, Denver, and has been with the Company since January 2008.

Eric Berentsen, Director of Atlanta Gold Inc. - Mr. Berentsen has 34 years experience as a geologist and is a qualified person as defined by NI 43-101.  Eric is a registered member of The Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. (SME).  He is currently the President of Jipangu Exploration, Inc. and was formerly senior geologist with Placer Dome Inc., Apollo Gold Inc. and Getchell Gold Corp.

John Jackson, Director of Atlanta Gold Inc. - Mr. Jackson founded Jacksons Food Stores, Inc., a nationally recognized chain of 205 branded convenience stores.  He owns and operates Jackson Oil Capitol Distributing.  Jackson Oil is a wholesale and transportation company delivering fuel to over 600 branded retail locations.  Capitol Distributing is a grocery wholesaler that delivers merchandise to over 400 convenience store locations.

John I'nama, Mine Site Coordinator, AGC - Mr. I'nama was born in Atlanta, Idaho and has been the Mine Site Coordinator for the past five years.  John has an eye for safety and his experience in all phases of the operations and his familiarity with the history of the Atlanta Gold Project qualifies him to be a valuable asset to the team.  Key skills include safe operations and supervision of all heavy equipment, drilling, road building, logging, and pipe installation for water, sewer, storm drains, etc.

Becky Shull, Corporate Secretary and Treasurer of AGC - Ms. Shull has worked in the mining industry for over 10 years and has a total of over 20 years experience as an Office Manager and Administrator.  Becky's knowledge and experience in a variety of areas, including database management, bookkeeping, financial reporting, paralegal, insurance, human resources, benefit administration, records management and marketing, make her a valuable asset to the team.  She has been with the Company since September 2007.

Ryan A. Eldridge, Vice President of Operations, CENTRA Consulting, Inc. - Mr. Eldridge has 13 years of engineering experience in the consulting sector involving hydraulic design, environmental management, hydrologic design and studies and management of a wide variety of civil and environmental engineering projects.  Ryan also has extensive experience in the design and construction of several groundwater, and surface water remediation projects.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Watershed Science from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University.

Nate Fisher, Partner of Shift Public Affairs - Mr. Fisher brings over 20 years of experience in government service, the last five years as a Gubernatorial Appointment as the Administrator of the Governor's Office of Species Conservation.  Mr. Fisher provides valuable insight into governmental affairs at the executive, legislative, federal and congressional levels.

Julie Hart, Partner of Shift Public Affairs - Ms. Hart has a proven track record of successfully leading a variety of political and issue based public affairs campaigns.  She brings creativity, strategic planning, and campaign management to the AGC Steering Committee.

Michelle Points, Owner of Points Law, PLLC - Michelle has over a decade of experience as a litigator and has practiced in both state and federal court with civil and criminal cases.  Her practice encompasses a wide range of general and complex litigation, with an emphasis on commercial transactions and natural resource regulatory compliance and litigation.  Michelle has had several years of experience in the mining industry ranging from agency permitting to complex regulatory litigation. Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon and her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Gonzaga University.

Richard Talboy, President of Talboy Construction, Inc. - Mr. Talboy has over 34 years experience in Design-Build Construction.  Mr. Talboy specializes in Industrial Construction. Richard established Talboy Construction, Inc. in 1989.  His experience includes managing and construction of over 100 projects ranging from 2,000 to 235,000 sq. ft.  He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and The Construction Specification Institute.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Creighton University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Iowa State University.  In addition, he has held contractors licenses in six western states as well as being a Registered Architect in Idaho.

Dave Turner, President of Knife River, Intermountain Region - Mr. Turner has been with his current employer since 1992 and has been the President of the Intermountain Region of Knife River since January 2012.  The Intermountain Region is a civil construction and construction material supply company which operates in the western U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska.  Dave oversees 1,200 workers in the peak of the construction season.  His region performed over $300 million in construction and construction materials in the 2012 calendar year.

The members of the Steering Committee that are not directors, officers or employees of the Company or AGC will serve in an advisory capacity and responsibility for the actions of AGC will remain with the management and directors of AGC.
