Deutsche Rohstoff: Rhein Petroleum participates in new oil drilling activity in Bavaria
Two wells in Lauben and Bedernau in the Lower Allgäu/Germany
Heidelberg. Wintershall GmbH, oil and gas subsidiary of BASF, started drilling an oil well in Lauben in the Lower Allgäu region of Bavaria, Germany, today. Another well will be drilled in the neighboring Bedernau, near the city of Mindelheim, by the end of August/beginning of September. Wintershall and Rhein Petroleum work together as a consortium (each 50%) in the license area Mindelheim. Wintershall is acting as operator. Both wells are located in the area of former oil fields, where significant remaining reserves are still suspected. The drilling targets were defined after the interpretation of a modern 3D-seismic survey, which was conducted under the direction of Rhein Petroleum in the license area Mindelheim in 2012.
