Equinox Minerals Ltd. Provides Additional Information to Shareholders on Barrick Gold Corp.'s Notice of Extension

TORONTO and SYDNEY, June 3, 2011 - Equinox Minerals Limited (TSX: EQN) (ASX: EQN) ('Equinox' or 'Company') wishes to advise that, further to the June 1, 2011 announcement by Barrick Gold Corporation ('Barrick') that its offer to acquire all of the common shares in Equinox Minerals Limited at a price of C$8.15 per share by way of a takeover bid (the 'Offer') has been extended to 5:00 pm (Toronto, Canada time) on June 14, 2011, Barrick has commenced mailing of the Notice of Extension. The Notice of Extension is also available on the Equinox and Barrick websites and through Georgeson Shareholder Communications Canada Inc., Information Agent for the Offer at askus@georgeson.com.In addition, holders of CHESS Depositary Interests ('CDIs') of Equinox should note that the deadline for the Offer for CDI tenders in Australia is June 9, 2011 at 7 pm (Sydney, Australia time).
